Willie Esther Curtis-Williams’ story is one of vision and dedication rooted in community service. Over more than two decades, she transformed Juneteenth from a local celebration into a structured institution that supports education, youth leadership, and cultural preservation through programs, activities and events.
Willie Esther serves diverse and evolving communities rooted in compassion, service, and cultural connection. Based in New Mexico, she actively supports individuals and families in Albuquerque’s International District, including those experiencing homelessness, while continuing to extend her impact across broader communities.
Willie Esther's vision is to build a structured, sustainable platform that preserves culture while expanding access to education, services, and opportunity for underserved communities. She is committed to creating systems that uplift individuals—especially youth and those facing hardship—while ensuring that Juneteenth remains a living, evolving force for education, unity, empowerment, and long-term community development across local and national levels.
